Introducing Hero Computing – Your Computer Superheroes
I am very pleased to announce our newest business, Hero Computing, LLC. This new business is a partnership between T.R. Hicks Enterprises, LLC – the business Cindy and I own – and our son Kevin.
Hero Computing specializes in WordPress site customization, remote PC tech support and computer tutoring. Between the three of us, we bring decades of I.T. experience to the table, along with 17 years of experience in website design and management. We were building websites when much of our competition was in diapers.

Blog Versus Online Magazine
I am in the process of converting one of my other sites, HomeBiz Digest, from a blog and back into an online magazine. It’s not as easy as you might think, but it does lead to one often-asked question, “What’s the difference?”
Well, there are several differences. Some of the most basic are:
Point of view: Blogs are usually written in the first-person POV, while online magazines are authored from an objective, third-person perspective.
Number of writers: Blogs can have guest posts from time-to-time, but most of the content is created by the site owner or blogger. Online magazines, on the other hand, often have many different writers who regularly contribute.
Branding: Blogs are typically branded after the owner (such as RosalindGardner.com), while the publication name is more important in an online magazine (such as ESBJournal.com). Of course there are some sites that muddy the waters a bit and do so with great success (Such as ClickNewz.com).
Of course, there are many other differences too, but these are a few that I’m dealing with at the moment… among other things.
Right now, I’m working on assembling a roster of top-notch home-based business authorities to share their wisdom. Additionally, I’m working on a new header graphic and changes that will make the site less “Tim-centric.” (Yes, I just coined a new phrase. That’s the way I roll.)
I hope you’ll check out the site as we go through the changes and let me know what you think. I value your feedback.

What A Great Saturday
Howdy world.
It’s been a while since I posted on this site, so I thought I would drop in for a quick “hello.”
It’s a great Saturday here in San Tan Valley. Cindy, Kevin and I just enjoyed a nice meal at Denny’s while discussing some business related to Hero Computing (our web design and PC repair business). It was very enjoyable and relaxing.
I hope y’all are all having a great day too.
God bless.
Food Glorious Food!
Sometimes, the simplest things can cause a tremendous reaction. Take tonight’s meal for example. It was just a simple hamburger from a fast-food joint, but it was as good as Ambrosia to me.
You see, I’ve been “under the weather” for the past few days and haven’t eaten much; I just haven’t been hungry. That changed today when my appetite started to come back. Unfortunately, today was also the day when my wife is on a “clear liquids” diet for a procedure she has coming up in the morning. Being a good husband, I didn’t want to eat in front of her because that would just be mean.
As the day wore on, my hunger started to grow. Cindy kept insisting that our son and I go out and get something to eat, but we refused. Finally, we gave in and headed out to the local BK.
Once there, we ordered and waited for our food. Let me tell you that these folks were not living up to the “fast food” moniker. I was starting to get antsy; not to the point of causing a scene, but I was starting to eat ketchup by itself.
Finally, the food arrived and I tore into it as though I had never eaten before. It was unusually good. Really, it was great! I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.
Now, my appetite wasn’t quite up to normal because I didn’t eat as much as I normally would, but I was satisfied.
You’re probably thinking, “Tim, did you just write a blog post about a hamburger?” Well, I guess I did, sort of. The actual point of the post is to act as a reminder to be thankful for the small things in life (like a hamburger) because they can sure become important when you don’t get them for awhile.
Cheers.
A Mid-Week Day Off
There’s just something so very nice about a day off in the middle of the week. It feels like Saturday, but Saturday is still to come. It doesn’t feel like a week day. It’s nice.

There Is No Such Thing As A Gay Marriage!
Ever since the citizens of North Carolina took to the polls to vote this past Tuesday, several people have asked me what I thought about “gay marriage.” Rather than answer the same questions over and over again, I thought I would just write my answer down here and direct any questions to this post. Please do me the courtesy of reading all the way to the end before passing judgement on my point of view. View Post
Happy Veterans Day
In addition to being 11/11/11, today is also special because it is Veterans Day. It’s the day set aside to pay tribute to the men and women who have “put country before self” and have served in the US Armed Forces.
It’s 11/11/11
Do you have any special plans for this special day? After all, it will only be 11/11/11 once in your lifetime (mine too) unless we live to be very old. So, what are we going to do to make the best of it?
